The best advice I can give is to draw cats and use references! Art is something you get better at by doing and references give an idea of what it is your drawing. It takes a lot of skill to draw straight from your imagination and references with is why references are something you should use! They give you an idea of what it is your drawing.

You're get better at art, don't worry! A reference is an aid/tool. It's either a photograph, a model, another work of art that you use to help figure out how/what to draw! For example in if I draw a cat in an action pose I will look up photos of cats in a similar pose that I have imagined to help me figure out anatomy and get the pose just right!
